In & Out, Lockdown & Light –
A 'gentle journey' for a world in lockdown

In & Out is an opportunity to use the time that many of us now have in self isolation to take a gentle journey within ourselves, to enjoy peace and rest, and to come out renewed to face a possibly brave new world. Through a series of seven brief videos offering suggestions for reflection, vizualization and meditation, journey with me as we go deeper and come to a place for rest and refreshment. This is for people of any faith tradition or none, and doesn't talk religion. Watch each video in turn below when you are ready to, or bookmark the 'In & Out' playlist on my YouTube channel, where the videos are also available. My suggestion is that you take as long as you need between each video, perhaps leaving at least a couple of days between each – there's no rush!

INTRODUCTION

Watch this video first, then feel free to move on to watch the first episode below, 'Settling In'. You might also like to watch the video 'Blessing for a friend' at the bottom of this page, at any time during your journey. This is a beautiful and poignant reflection by the Irish poet John O'Donohue, which seems very relevant for where we are in our world today.

Note: If you hover your mouse near the bottom right of the video, you should find options to watch it on YouTube or to fill your screen if you wish. If you're watching on YouTube and have a Google/YouTube account, feel free to share what comes up for you in the comments for each video.

GOING IN

1. SETTLING IN

The first video in the 'In & Out' journey. After watching the video, take whatever time you need to reflect upon the suggestions it makes. Move on to watch the next in the series only when you feel ready.

The second video in the 'In & Out' journey. After watching the video, take whatever time you need to reflect upon the suggestions it makes. Move on to watch the next in the series only when you feel ready.

3. LANDING

WAITING

4. RESTING

The fourth video in the 'In & Out' journey. After watching the video, take whatever time you need to reflect upon the suggestions it makes. Move on to watch the next in the series only when you feel ready. You may especially wish to take an extra long time to rest with this step.

A body scan meditation, guided by well-known mindfulness teacher Jon Kabat-Zinn, can be viewed at https://youtu.be/u4gZgnCy5ew. I suggest just listening to and being guided by this meditation, rather than watching the screen (which is just a still image anyway).

A BLESSING FOR A FRIEND

A beautiful blessing by the late Irish poet and priest John O'Donohue that seems to offer thoughts that are very relevant to this journey. You might optionally like to watch this video at any time as you make your journey.
